Your First Date With Online PR

So here’s the thing, marketing is important. And although we all know this, what you may not know is why you need to market yourself. Entering the world of websites, social media, and mobile phones can seem overwhelming and you might even wonder if it’s really worth it–it is!

The average consumer is turning to the Internet for information before using anything else. Gone are the days of phonebooks. Traditional marketing is still important, but having an online presence is equally important. At the click of a button your consumers can find reviews of your products and customer service, and within seconds they can be at your competitors website. Marketing today is all about knowing your tools and using them properly. If you want to compete, it is absolutely essential that you invest time and money in online PR.

Let me break it down to the bare-minimum basics for you:

1. You need a website.

When I say a website, I mean a functional, well-designed website. A website is your first impression and digital store front. Your consumers will notice if you skimp on your budget, and then they will turn right around and head straight for a competitor they feel like they can trust. Consider your website like job interview attire, it needs to meet expectations.

2. You need to reach out through social media.

One of the biggest expectations consumers have today is to be able to talk to you, and for you to respond. If a customer has a concern that you don’t address it can spread across the Internet within seconds. Social media marketing is by far the best avenue of communication between you and your consumers, and more than that, they expect it.

3. You need to keep up with the times.

Technology is forging ahead and even the most up-to-date marketers are scrambling to keep up. In the past a failure to pay attention might have been overlooked, but today it can leave you in the dust. Mobile marketing can be as simple as giving your website a separate template for phones, and it even sets you apart.

The bottom line is being online is vital and it plays an extremely important role in your marketing strategy.
